There are various ways to become involved in your park and the Friends of Devonport Park charity, each requiring different types of skills and levels of involvement. Have a look below, and if any of these appeal to you, feel free to reach out to the committee either via our active and thriving facebook group ( FoDP facebook group ) or email: plymouthdevonportpark@gmail.com.
The FoDP committee meet once a month, late thursday afternoons, in the community room of the park pavilion cafe in Devonport Park. Meetings usually last between 1 - 2 hours and are minuted. The purpose of the meeetings are to keep up to date witb events occuring within the park and its environs, liaise with our PCC liaison, councillors and other stakeholders. Other purposes may include planning events and fundraising activities. Some committee members choose to adopt specific roles, such as working on the charity's social media, or events planning for example. However more manpower and skills are always needed. If you are interested in joining the committee, email: plymouthdevonportpark@gmail.com.
The volunteer gardeners work alongside the PCC paid gardeners to help maintain the flora and fauna within Devonport Park. They meet every monday, from 10am until 3pm (or less if needed), at "the training centre", located near to The Lower Lodge, next to & just inside the Fore Street entrance of the park. Volunteers of all levels of capability are welcomed and work may involve repotting seedlings to digging out a new flower bed - depending upon ability and choice. For more information, please ask on the FoDP facebook group or email: plymouthdevonportpark@gmail.com.
The FoDP are always in need of volunteers to assist in both the planning and exceution of our community fun days and park events. This could be from assisting in putting up posters, advertising our events, manning a stall on the day or assisting with litter picking. If you would like to assist in any way, please ask on the FoDP facebook group or email: plymouthdevonportpark@gmail.com.
