Great News!
The friends have been nominated for a YMCA Community Award and has been chosen as a finalist. Representatives of the charity will be attending the award ceremony this coming November and we hop for further good news... watch this space!
Mike Gallagher's service celebrated by his favourite team!
As I am sure you have heard, Mike retired from being Chairman of the FDP recently. Plymouth Argyle Football Club (P.A.F.C) wanted to celebrate his 2 decades of community service to Devonport & kindly invited him to the Home Grounds for a private tour. Whilst there, they presented him with a special shirt signed by the team. A wonderful gift for a wonderful gent as I'm sure you will all agree!

Book Sales:
As I am sure that you know, the FDP raises funds by selling donated books in the Devonport Park Cafe. This works on an honesty system (and usually this works well). However, we live in the digital age these days & not everyone carries spare cash with them and so the FDP have provided the opportunity now to pay digitally. A brand new payment card will soon be present on the bookcase for you to view, with all the different ways of donating on it, including by bank transfer and zeffy. Head over to see it in the Devonport Park Pavilion Cafe the next time you stop by for a cuppa & cake ...
We have a new Chairman & Secretary!
As previously notified, it was with gratitude and thanks that the committee recognised the long-standing contributions to the FDP and the park at our AGM when he stepped down from being Chairman & Secretary. It was an emotional time as gifts were presented to Mike from the committee and from Plymouth City Council.
It was with warmer hearts that the committee unanimously voted in Prof John Bull as our new Chairman and Mel Gallagher as our new Secretary. Vice-chair and other officer roles will be determined at our next full committee meeting (15th October).
We also welcomed to the committee an ex-member Mrs Stacey Gifford, who has come on board once again primarily to assist with events planning. And we anticipate welcoming onto the committee soon her sister, Mrs Jordana Wilkes - role(s) to be determined.
Members of the public raised concerns which were heard and taken on board by the committee and council members present. We thank every member of the public who made the time to come to our AGM.
If you couldn't make it - we look forward to your presence next year! However, in the meantime, you can always reach to us via our facebook group or email (see the contact us page).
As the committee grows, we welcome in new skills and experience and every new member allows us to do more for YOU & YOUR PARK! Anyone over the age of 18 years would be considered and we only ask for regular attendance at our monthly committee meetings - anything else is welcomes and appreciated of course! Toddler Play Park Fundraising Campaign NEWS...

The Toddler Play area prize draw tickets are now available to purchase digitally!
Ticket sellers can now accept payments in person via BACS or Paypal! Head to the park cafe to purchase a physical ticket (or see a committee member).
From September 2026, both physcial and e-tickets will be entered into the monthly prize draws.
The FoDP have begun a prize draw to raise funds for the Toddler Play Park undraising campaign. Raffle tickets will cost £1 each or £4 for a strip of 5 (larger amounts and more bulk deals available via e-ticket) and will be available for sale in the Pavilion Park Cafe, from the gardeners, commitee members orZEFFY. Draws will be held monthly (1st thursday of every month) whilst sales will run from the first to last day of each month and the prize pot wil be 50% of sales, with 50% of sales donated towards the fundraiser*. We have created a dedicated Zeffy Donation Campaign for you to use to donate generously to our charity and it's various campaigns. You can access this by using either the QR code above or the link below. You can choose a one-off donation (of any amount) or to donate to us monthly. You can also choose for your donation to be dedicated to an individual (we will post dedications here), to the charity in general or choose from a selection of campaigns for which we are raising funds.
We are immensely grateful for any and all support, financial or otherwise, we receive - without your support, we could not continue to exist and help to maintain our georgous and beautiful park for the use & benefit of all!
*The FoDP reserves the right to utilise any funds raised under the auspices of the purchase & installation of toddler play equipment within Devonport Park for other purposes, only once this project has been completed.
